I was busy putting new bar tape on the bike this morning, and was interrupted by 3 callers at the front door in the space of 10 minutes.

First caller was a Jehovah's Witness, trying to interest me in accepting a copy of Watchtower Magazine. I politely declined.

Second caller was a door-to-door salesman trying to get me to switch energy supplier. 'Sorry, I'm not interested'.

By the third call, I was starting to get annoyed. I was preparing myself to say 'No thanks, not interested."..., but it was my son's friend whose bike I'd repaired the week before...with a box of chocolates and a card saying 'Thank you for fixing my bike'. Completely unexpected - I was really touched! ^_^

Ah, mate, that's a good story! A good turn and all that. Sounds like your son has nice mates.

I'm pretty tolerant really but those JWs don't half make a nuisance of themselves sometimes. I was in the middle of a major league washing machine flood on Christmas day of all days (and I lived in the upstairs flat) and they turned up. Luckily I think they realised my concerns at that moment were a little more worldly. Another time I was bored and decided to engage them in debate. I think we talked for about an hour and a half. One of the few times when it was them that said they were a bit busy and had to go… :hello:

Recently though they've started stalking my other half – they've somehow seen her (Spanish) name in the electoral roll or something and despite numerous polite requests to leave us alone (she often works 16 hour shifts through the night as cabin crew), they keep coming round asking if there's anyone who speaks Spanish. It's a bit freaky really and is unsettling her. We've already been round to their Kingdom Hall to ask them to pack it in. I'm tempted next time if they persist in disturbing us to follow them around and see if they like it.

Urgh that is not on and very creepy- if it continues say you'll involve the police- hopefully you won't need to.

Yes, it is creepy, and very annoying if you've just done a transatlantic flight and are jetlagged and asleep. Hardly likely to make us want to join their gang either. If it persists we'll see if the police can help. I'm sure they'll get the message one way or another though! :stop: :ninja:

Apologies to the OP for hijacking his heartwarming thread. It's nice to hear of good deeds being done and reciprocated.

Why would you need to use a brush & a hoover at the same time!!
