See my third picture down in THIS thread - I sort of remodelled a waist bag to fit the handlebars - if you want some close ups of how I done it just ask

It's a good place to keep the camera, as you can access it without getting off the bike, if I just take the compact, I keep it in the little black pouch on the cross bar - that's even better, you needn't even stop to take pictures
Could you take some close up pics of how you mounted that bag. I recently bought a lovely 18-200mm lens and want to take the dslr with me on certain rides. The idea of carrying it on my person like a man bag does not appeal as it will get in the way of riding, but having it ready and accessable between the drops sounds ideal

I've ridden hundreds, maybe thousands, of miles with a DSLR in an ordinary Klikfix handlebar bag with a bit of foam rubber padding the bottom and sides. No problem so far, and the camera is always handy, but out of of sight. It's a D60 with an 18-200mm lens, so the camera's compact and bijou but the lens is quite chunky. The setup is as in the pictures in this blog - the bag's open in most of the photos, because I've taken the camera out to take the photo...

(For the ultimate smooth ride for your camera, ride a Moulton with silky-smooth suspension. Some of those hundreds of miles have been on the Moulton; not all, though).

for days when i don't want to carry a rucksack and have too much for a rear pocket I choose this.

Tons of pockets, very solid very big and comfy to wear even when fully filled.

Not waterproof though.
