How to get road signs erected?

Anyone know if it is possible to make an application for warning signs to be erected on a stretch of road; Mrs Marmion rides a horse on a regular basis on a road and was wondering if there is anyway of getting some warning signs erected?

I would suspect (but not know) with the way things are nowadays, that reporting official "health and safety" near misses and asking the them to be recorded and acknowledged may be the way to go.

In all seriousness though, can you not contact your local council and ask for whatever procedure? I'd imagine there is no 'set' rule.

OK, local authority it'll be, I didn't know if it was local authority or if there was some other department who did these things. Cheers :okay:

If its a major road like the A9, Transport Scotland will be responsible but most other roads will be LA.

Depends on the type of road, if it is a Trunk Road then it will be Transport Scotland, if a local road then it's the Council Roads and Transport dept. You could try approaching their Road Safety group, I see they have a form to fill in on the Council website.

The signs near us are usually near stables or riding schools, us there one nearby? Maybe they have more clout than individuals ....

They cost a fortune by the time all the paper shufflers have finished..
if the land she rides past is private see if you can put odd signs up on their land.and have some made as they work better if they look right and have Slow Horses on them
