How unlucky was I? Cycled 25miles out of 30 on North Cornish side roads only to end up with a flat tyre. Not to worry I thought so I got my spare inner tube out. Checked the tyre and the rim for any debris, all clear so proceeded to pump up the tyre only to find that go flat as well! Ended up calling out the RAC (wife) to come and pick the bike and me up. What's your unluckiest mishap?

I lost my chain and padlock in a blond moment on the way home from work.
The following morning I set off on my bike, didn't really matter that I wouldn't be able to secure it coz it was safe at work in that respect.
I got off the train and within half a mile got a puncture.- no repair kit, serves me right!!!!
Couldn't hop on a bus as I wasn't able to secure my bike, considered drowning it in the canal as I pushed it three and a half miles wearing brand new boots that were tearing holes in my feet!

Once I saw someone wheeling their machine down a mountain* in their bare feet. IIRC their shoes were hanging round their neck. I'd have offered help but they'd have had back up somewhere whereas I was touring with a tent and rather a long day ahead.

* it was a biggy, Tourmalet, they could have had a very long way to go.

Many years ago,i cycled into Leeds centre to order some cycling trophys.Left the bike outside the shop, with my best and thickest chain, fastened with permission to the shop sign.
After ordering and making a deposit,i came to leave,i had the wrong key for the padlock,i had to borrow the guy's hacksaw,it took longer to saw through the lock than it did to cycle into town,i have never done it since.
