HR Giger died

HR Giger has died. Aged 74. Apparently from injuries falling down some stairs.

Most people will know know from his BioMechanical designs of the sets and monsters in the Alien movies.

To us rabid metal heads he was known for his album cover artwork for Celtic Frost, Triptykon, Danzig and Carcass. He also designed Korn's Jonathan Davis' microphone stand.

Also the artwork/poster that was included in the Dead Kennedy's album Francenchrist called Penis Envy which caused all sorts off hoo haa with the Conservatives and PMRC in America.

A sad loss. a truly great and innovative artist.

He did indeed, also Debbie Harry Koo Koo, Magma and Mylene Farmer amongst others.

Yep - that was my introduction, I had posters on my walls long before Alien

In fact it was the HR Giger design that piqued my interest in alien

He was a very talented man although I find most of his works a bit too dark. He designed a couple of bars which are fun...

Sorry, yes, Landscape not Envy.
Penis Envy was a Crass album.
I do still have the LP and poster in a plastic crate in my garden shed with all my other vinyl.

Eeek - vinyl-sacrilege, at least put them in your loft (in LP boxes) or have some shelves / case built in a spare (child's) room ...

Loft is now a bedroom. Crates are sealed and shed is brand new and very waterproof.

The record player is in the shed. It needs a new needle cartridge, but there are plans....
