Ooooh! I'm an excited bunny!
I'll be taking delivery of my HTC Desire HD tomorrow!!
I was coming to towards the end of my contract in December and whilst I knew it was early to try for an upgrade, I thought I'd give it a go.
So having looked up the deals online, I knew what price I wanted to aim for, so yesterday I phoned up Vodafone and asked what deals were available. Of course they were rubbish and I suggested that I could get better elsewhere. So I asked for the PAC code. The lady on the end of the phone then said, no problem, but it will cost you (I had more than 30 days left). So I kept my nerve and said, yes I'd pay the charge. She took my details and car number, and she said I'll get a letter in a couple of days with the PAC code.
Eeek! They usually pass you though to cancellations by now!
Still I held my nerve.
So today I get a phone call. The chap was phoning to give me my PAC code (not by letter then). 'Oh and can I ask why you are leaving us....?' Aha! A breakthrough!
So to cut a long story short, I got the deal I was looking for (I tried for a little more but it wasn't happening). £25 a month. 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet (aye right, 500Mb in reality).
Not bad for a flagship phone!
Oh and it was £7.50 cheaper than what I was on for 300 minutes!!
The moral of the story is: hold your nerve!!
