Bus Station Improvements Scaled Back

Instead of a hub, with lockers and secure storage, they are now just fitting cycle racks.

Huddersfield is easy reach for me, I go fairly often but never by bike as there is no secure storage and now there still won't be.

They've made some excellent improvements with segregated cycle lanes on the main route in (from Cooper Bridge) for bicycles but now it's all for nothing as there is no incentive to cycle inif I have to leave my bike on the street. Shame.

Councils wont provide any cycling infrastructure if they can help it. If they do its usually just token rubbish.

It's a northern mill town not somewhere in Italy. Another Piazza!

To be fair on the A62 Leeds Road leading into Huddersfield there have been some really good improvements, there are still some token rubbish bits but the most recent stuff has been a big improvement.

I felt it would fit right in with the massive planters they put down the high street!

True cost of huge Huddersfield town centre planters revealed Hint - its £250,000

Still missing the one we had in Leeds outside the rail station..... opened with quite a hoo ha and closed with a whisper:sad:

That one was brilliant, I knew someone that worked there and though I still paid the monthly fee they gave me a 24hr access card (normally access was closed 0000-0600) so after a night out I could wobble my way home rather than get a taxi lol.

@roley poley, @wiggydiggy, either of you use the one up near Boots?

But for a council that are on the verge of bankruptcy, they're "spending" a fair bit on stuff that isn't needed. The area outside the bus station has been pedestrianised for years.
They could clean up the area as it is for a lot less.

No but I know where you mean. I'm fortunate that I have access to the secure office car park if I cycle into Leeds.

Bus Station I haven't been down to for ages, but I heard they are making some changes.
