Hi guys I have just registered here as I need some advice. I bought a very cheap bike from amazon a little while ago for fitness reasons as I am on the kidney transplant list. It is a full suspension heavy thing and altho it has so far served its purpose I would like to get something better and more suited to the roads. I have had a good look on the net, i'm not able to get to a decent bike shop. I've only got about £300 to spend and don't want to end up with a dud.
I have seen this below
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/scott/sub-40-2010-hybrid-bike-ec020663
Would that be decent. I'm 27 and about 5ft 9 btw. I am riding mainly on roads and occasionally by the banks of the river mersey in Stockport. Are there any other bikes in that sort of price range that stand out as being better?
Many thanks for any advice.
Jon

Hi Jon, I am new here to this forum but like you I am also on the look out for a new ride. I like the look of the Scott but I have a slightly bigger budget, up to £600 but not sure what to do. I have been looking at the following: Specialized crosstrail comp or Sirrus, Trek hardtrail and Lappierre shaper 300 (bit expensive), I will now be adding the Scott to my list. Off to my lbs tomorrow for some advice. I haven't ridden for some time, just getting back in to it over the past few months. There is so much choice out there but for £300 you should get a half decent bike for what you are looking to do. One thing I have learnt from others is that you get what you pay for, some people I know opted for a cheapo bike from Tescos and other similar places like Sports Direct - a load of cr*p, really heavy, cheap parts and enough to put anyone off cycling for good. Let us know how you get on.
