I've only really ever had road bikes. I enjoyed riding but always felt restricted.

Well, I recently bought a hybrid (mountain bike TBH) put some armadillos on it and WOW!

I love it to bits! With my road bikes I was always worried about the holes, bumps and leaving it outside the gym or shops.

I feel so free, sounds very wierd to some I guess or maybe even common knowledge to others. But, I wish I did this years ago.

I know it's not as fast as my roadie but much more fun, I have more confidence too.

I bought a hybrid when my tourer seriously broke in Orleans from the Orleans branch of Decathlon last month. It was a pleasure to ride and despite my reservations about fat i.e. 38mm vs 28mm wide tyres id was just as fast as the aged Galaxy that it replaced.

I've been contemplating cycling to work and I now have the perfect tool - it came with mudguards, a rack and dynamo lighting all for €399.

Slap the knobblies on it and go off road.....proper...........

Really enjoyed having my MTB back to off road - no suspension - suits me as a roadie, and it's very capable bike......fast XC and up-hill, but it's me that slows it down on rocky descents.........
