As I get older, I have decided I should give up my life of crime and stick to the straight and narrow. As such I would like to buy some pedals with reflectors. I have managed to find the sort I am after, with spd one side and flat on the other, on the interwebs. The trouble is that they all look a bit clunky and crap.

I was wondering if anybody else has any suggestions or recommendations?

After pedals, I would recommend, hi-viz, reflective slap bands on the ankles.

They have the advantage of being seen from the side and not just from behind.

Spokies otherwise known as reflective spoke tubes, stick half a dozen on each wheel. Lights up like a Christmas tree when headlights hit them.

On my commuter/utility bike I have a pair of the ubiquitous Shimano PD-M520 pedals with the SM-PD 22 reflector units clipped in to one side. Works well as a reflector and a pedal platform for normal shoes, and can easily be removed if needed.

I had seen this sort of thing. Are they secure in the clip without adjustment or does the clip on that side need adjustment?

Thanks to the previous commenters but my focus is on being legal as I already have being seen covered. I was just hoping to do it with a bit of style.

Check out the Shimano PD-EH500. They're a popular choice SPD on one side, flat with reflectors on the other. They're less clunky than many others but still functional. Wellgo also makes similar models that might be worth a look.

I’d second Wellgo MTB/platform pedals, if only for their ability to be serviced. I have them on the hack, and they serve me well.
(Sorry, missed the SPD requirement)

Perfectly secure without having to adjust the tension. Obviously this may depend on what tension you set - I tend to run SPDs relatively tight.

I'd bin off the idea of reflectors on the pedals if you want clipless. There are many other ways you can try and make yourself seen (doesn't apply if drivers don't look).

Pro-vis do some excellent jackets, jerseys and gillets.

Dogtrousers

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I have some Shimano PD-T400
A bit of a web search suggests they have been superseded by PD-T421

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Shimano-PD-T421-Click-R-pedal_223047.htm?sku=721492

Edit: Actually on closer examination the T421s are single sided (SPD one side, flat t'other). The T400s that I have are SPD both sides.

They are "click-R" which is supposedly an easier to use version of SPD. I don't notice any great difference. Maybe engagement is a bit less positive ... maybe.

The problem is that to be legal on the road at night, you need pedal reflectors (and lights and a rear reflector). Most don’t bother and the chances of being done for it are minimal, but should anything happen it could be a factor in assignment of blame if you weren’t on the road legally.

Never been an issue. Shoes usually have a reflector on, or clothing. I've been hit in the dark, no-one has ever questioned reflectors on the pedals. Driver forgot to see bright lights, reflective sidewall tyres, reflective top !
