Is this an age thing? I wouldn't dream of taking a drink on a 23 mile ride unless it was a hot day. I never take a drink when I run under 10 miles.
Yet the young ALL carry drink and don't seem to be able to go more than 30 minutes without a drink. My wife lectures and the thought of sitting through an hour lecture without a drink is regarded as a cruel and peculiar punishment.
Do you drink because you always drink, it is body acclimatisation and not a physical requirement? I mean balanced hydration may optimise extreme performance as in competitive sport but not ordinary walking, cycling or running ... in our usual climate.
