Fitted a new cassette and chain on a mate's bike this afternoon. Lovely bloke, but the kind whose mechanical expertise extends about as far as 'maybe it would run nicer if I put some more oil on.' Yech. Ended up absolutely filthy.

It doesn't take any mechanical expertise for him to wash it before you work on it.

I always wash my bike if i need to take it to the LBS unless its an emergency repair.
