I think people get caught up on the whole auction thing..
You would think anyone with half a brain would at least check wouldn't you?

Very rarely buy anything off ebay anymore for the simple fact that you never know what you are going to get is the real deal or not.

I bid a guy up on a used pair of spd-sl cleats (no nuts and worn) just for a laugh and he ended up paying £3 more than a pair of BIN brand spankers on the next page.

There are idiots out there. Doesn't mean you can't get bargains, if you do your homework. And in all the 500+ deals I've done on ebay, only once has what's turned up not been what was listed.

I'll second that - absolutely no probs with gear I have bought

There are a lot of retailers, quite a few of them cycle shops, that sell via ebay shops.
I can see for them its a good way of distance selling without having the expense of the upkeep and maintenance of their own web sites for what can be a small business.

I like ebay and web shops in general. Good for finding things or solutions that local retailers wouldn't even have heard of, and if P&P is reasonable can save money on transport too.

I've seen this kind of thing often. A couple of years ago people were buying Lego fire stations and police stations on eBay, and paying the same price for each as Argos was selling the two for!!

But the Chainreaction one isn't actually available to buy, and a quick google doesn't show it for sale anywhere else.

The M770 is about £140 so £105 for the 761, which was the winning bid, sounds like a good deal to me.

p.s. It wasn't me who bought it

If you want it now then more than likely you'll get carried away and pay over the odds.

... and now and again, you benefit from that as a seller.

pretty sure it was for sa,e when I looked lst week but you are correct.

So should I start a thread: Check that the other item is actually for sale if posting about people bidding on ebay not doing their homework ?;)
