Everyone else saying how lovely everything looks in the snow but I haven't been on the bike since before xmas:angry: Can't even cycle up to our main road junction as the side road is still a sheet of ice

Main roads are still icy at the sides so don't really want to try them out either. Broken bones are no fun at my age

Oh well, it has to melt sometime, right ?

Content yourself with a nice photo 1/2man - extremely evocative of a wintry way...

I know what you mean, it is getting a little bit tedious. I might venture out tomorrow and keep to the main roads. This snow might look pretty, but I want to go away now and return to a normal slushy winter.

Halfmanhalfbike, I am not far away from you, I know how you feel, it is now four weeks, yes four weeks, since I have been out on my bike, I am missing it soooo much ;)

I got out on my bike yesterday. It was the first ride since mid November as heavy colds and foul weather made the intervening weekends unrideable.

It was a nice feeling event though the ride was only 22km - much shorter than I normally do. Thankfully the very recent snowfall has bypassed Leeds and I hope to get out later today too.

Be patient, you'll really enjoy the first ride of the year.

Went out for a MTB club ride on Wednesday when it was blowing a hoolie and blizzarding and we got seriously concerned about the possibility of exposure if anybody punctured while we were on the tops. So we rode down in the valley and the woods, managing an amazing 10 miles in a couple of hours. Somebody did puncture but at least we were in a sheltered spot.

Hi Jane. I know what you mean. If it doesn't melt soon I'll be reduced to playing cycling manager on my PC or watching old TdF videos:smile:

More snow overnight. Now I can't even get the car out never mind the bike.

Contemplating whether to head out on the club ride tomorrow, I ought to as I've some extra calories to burn off, guess I'll have to see what its like.

Radio 4 this morning said it was going to stay cold and icy all month, hope they're wrong ;)

Woke up to some good inches of snow this morning....been out to sweep the hill clear of snow and gritted it before the cars compressed it. Another neighbour was out scattering salt as well.

The ice had just cleared on NY Eve - enough for 32 mile ride in the lanes....not now...

Same here, light snow over night and temperature still below freezing at 11:25am. I've been out once on my bike since Christmas and ended up with a puncture 3 miles from home. At least the eveinings are suposed to be getting lighter again.

Yep, plenty of snow again here.
I've got to go out so am putting CX tyres on the Hewitt and am going up the canal from Stalybridge to Diggle. Should be fun.
