I just found... (A new AWOL record....)

A waterproof I thought I'd lost ages ago, in fact last seen in 2008. I always thought I'd lent it to a friend of my sons to walk home in in the Scottish rain and just never got it back.

I missed it greatly as it really was a very useful and versatile jacket. So imagine my surprise when I pulled my golf clubs out the loft in preparation for a bit of holiday golf next week, opened up a large pocket to see if I had any balls left and there it was! It's as if I'd just received a new one in the post but with double the joy and amazement from the find.

8 years AWOL, that's a record for me and I can finally stop harbouring dark thoughts about the kid I thought had lost it.

What's your AWOL record?

Loch side.
Now mentally apologise to your son's friend who you've thought less of for 8 years because you suspected he was a careless borrower. Light a candle or something.

Is there a waterproofing stuff I can soak it in d'yer think and rescue it, as it is another wise good jacket apart from no longer being, you know, waterproof.....?

Two! As a holiday golfer I'll be needing more. And my glove had disintegrated.

Can't beat 8 years, but the riff from the Sex Pistols' superb Do You No Wrong was in my head for 7 years before I found out (or rather refreshed my memory) what the goddam hell it was when the warden at Idwal Cottage youth hostel in Snowdonia happened to put it on.

It's the one starting at 1' 17":

We moved here in 2001 and I could never find the big expensive torque wrench I was certain I had packed with the rest of my tools. I thought the removal men must have half inched it on the day. Fast forward to 2014 when I demolished my garden shed and there it was, lying in the corner wrapped in grease proof paper.
