Over the last few months this thing has become the love of my life. It's now officially my favourite 'bike' of all time. It's just a simple thing, but the transformative effect it has had on some people's lives has been profound. For people on the autistic spectrum particularly - for all kinds of reasons. It's a gem.

On Thursday the CEO of the company who makes them delivered our latest consignment of four units personally in the work's van - all the way from Holland.

After using it extensively we were able to give him a load of feedback on it - and also discussed the possibility of our own exclusive model with a few tweaks to the spec. We'll be getting our first GC spec TwinBike in the New Year, I can't wait. I'm unfeasibly excited by the prospect.

Another thing they make which I found really intriguing, is a 'coaster brake' mechanism for a derailleur bike. he brought an example fitted to a wheelchair based handcycle. Coaster brakes and gears (apart from the early C.20th Bendix two speed coasters and the like) are mutually exclusive. This thing is based around a tiny freewheel mechanism which sits between the bottom bracket cup and the LH crank. It's has a 100mm arm attached which pulls a regular brake cable which, on this example, drove a cable disc. Brilliant.

We hanker after a tandem trike. I don't like being stoker on an upright two wheeler, and NT wouldn't want to captain one. But I'm not strong enough to captain one. So more than two wheels would help. NT is happy for me to captain in that case, and he provide power.
