When replying, bear in mind recent events.
A Chinese "weather Balloon" recently traversed the US. This same "balloon" was "shot down" because it wasn't a "weather balloon". Or so the authorities would have you believe.
I give to you that this was Mad Doug Biker being returned, or a Chinese double, who hit the wrong switch.
Remember Roswell, something not of this earth that we are told was nothing more than a weather balloon? They were trying to return him, using his knowledge of flightradar247. This explains the appearance over the US. The explosion was when their systems realised this and ejected him over the North Atlantic. But not before he grabbed a life raft, on which he had a softer landing than would otherwise be possible. Said life raft was then used to get to Scotland.
If we take the Chinese "weather balloon" theory. Then this Mad Doug Biker is nothing more than a copy of the real item. Sent to infiltrate our way of life, and learn from it. Having crossed the US, had the right button been pressed, the "weather balloon" would have picked up the Gulf Airstream. This would have taken the occupant round the top of the North Atlantic, and down by Scotland.
However, the occupant hit the wrong switch, causing the balloon to explode and occupant and other debris to fall into US waters. Leaving the copy to have to make its own way to Scotland.
Both theories allow sufficient time for between the "balloon" blowing up and Mad Doug's reappearance.
