Nothing is more satisfying, I reckon it's almost as good as getting a new bike. My Dinotte is getting cranky, picked up a Hope vision 2 during the week from my LBS, heavily reduced.

Nice and dark now, all charged up- time for a ride around the lanes to test it.

What's wrong with the Dinotte? Do you want to flog it?

Be sure to turn them to full power and point them straight into your eyes to make sure they are bright enough, you will then be blinded for 5 minutes and feel rather silly
Don't ask me how I know this

Well, pretty pleased with it. Unlit roads it is possible to ride using the least bright setting (four levels), go up a level and there's plenty of light. That leaves two additional increments for stuff like fast descents or off-road stuff.

I've been busy this week so first chance for a ride (not counting riding to B&Q or taking stuff to the dump in the trailer- I've been decorating, actually just the destructive, fun, bit of decorating when you rip all the stuff off the walls)

I've had it three or four years, it's started getting a bit intermittent. I've taken it apart and there's no obvious issues with it. It does work most of the time but I don't completely trust it any more, I'm keeping it as a backup though.

Just bought one of these: http://www.dealextre...t-4x18650-57100, cant wait for it to arrive. I cycled through Glasgow Green in the dark last winter with a keech (http://www.britannia...tionary/k.shtml) front light, I was keechin' myself incase I ran over a body.

I doubt you will be disappointed.

I got a set of 900 lumen lights from the same people (should have been 1200 lumen) and they are terrific!

I went out very early one morning to see just how good they were and in the depths of the country in pitch black under the tree canopy I could ride as fast as I wanted (was capable of) with no problems. They lit the road up like daylight.

I was out for 2 1/2 hours and rode through the dawn and they were on full all the time and as far as I could tell they were prettymuch as bright at the finish as when I started. All for just over 30 quid.

Thanks - I'll keep a lookout on Ebay. Can't afford a new one yet
