...sadly it was only geraniums but it makes me think that the dreariest months of winter are drawing to a close.

My feet still think it's harsh winter.

Bunk...um! Take no notice of Ricard, Speicher...he even went to the bookies and wagered on some other cuttings growing well this year.
Betting his hedges. But that's a privet matter between him and Bill Hill. Dayvo's having a nice healthy d.i.y. curry tonight too - no germ in Asian for him - only good stuff I favour. On the other hand, Ricard might wake with a husk e-voice tomorrow...a thirst time for everything ;)

Sigh...

I don't know which way to seal my front garden from the street. Do I use an artificial barrier, or a 'propagate'

I very nearly replied to that!

Spent the arvo up at the allotment digging the ground over and trying to protect the compost bin from rats which have taken up accommodation in there. Still bleedin' cold, but feels like its just the last hump to go.

Need to start planning what to grow this year. Thinking I might turn my hand to ginger...

Yes me too. Apart from the ginger that is (so far).

But you have me intrigued. How do you grow ginger?

Well, the way I'm intending to do it is to buy some from the local supermarket, and stick it in a pot somewhere warm until it gets warmer outside. Hopefully by then there'll be some shoots. I'll then leave it to itself until about August sort of time and dig it up - see what we've got...

A more detailed and probably more successful way of doing it is here.

Ah ha - I thought it was a warm weather one but 28/30 C is quite a requirement. And the watering - it needs a drop or two doesn't it?

Have fun  . Personally I shall save that one for another year I think

I tend not to pay attention to much to what other people say are necessities. Sometimes it works in my favour (but mostly not!)

I got a ginger plant to flower a couple of years ago but I'd bought it and may have been an ornamental variety.

I also planted my broad beans yesterday in the greenhouse.

I planted my broad beans in November... was a bit of a gamble I'll confess. SOME do appear to be shooting however. I will plant some more in the greenhouse next weekend I think (delayed only because I haven't yet built it).
