... and possibly one dangerous moton is off the road for a while.

Well for the 4th time in as many years my father has crashed his car, but the best bit is due to the circumstances the insurance company aren't willing to fund a rental car. So he rings me up & in detail tells me what happened then asks me if he can borrow the Alfa for a while, my response without a moments hesitation was blunt to say the least "f**k off! I wouldn't let you drive a 1l fiesta"... cue a load of cursing which lasts about 15 seconds before I put the phone down. I'm still laughing about it though I don't think I'll be getting any presents from my parents for a while

So the roads around Cambridge may be a little less dangerous for a few weeks/months.

I know how you feel.

As annoying as it was for my Dad to have been conned out of his Land Rover Discovery, for a few grand less then it was worth, by travellers it was such a relief that he decided he would stop driving and not replace it with another car.

Whoever said blood is thicker than water has never owned an Alfa :headshake:

Just after MrWC & I got together many, many years ago, he got a new car. It was an Alfa Romeo 33 1.5ti Veloce, in black. She was quite beautiful, was Gina... and lovely to drive.

Night Train, yeah I know what feeling you're talking about, unfortunately he'll be back on the road when the car is repaired & the insurance bits are sorted out. I just wish he'd quit driving & let my mother drive, though she hasn't got confidence she's a very observant & considerate driver... hell she could handle my old sprint/hill climbers & used to go shopping in them (which was quite a sight, a woman in her 50s driving something you'd expect to find on a rally-cross circuit :headshake:)

Coco, he has a Citroen C5 Estate 1.8 16v & evidence shows he's barely capable of handling that... But in performance the Alfa is on another planet, it's 0-60 is half that of the C5, has over twice the PWR (despite being 20% heaver) & almost 4 times the torque. Dad with that car?.. I don't even want to go there!

Result... kind of. I learnt today that the outcome of the crash my father was involved in has resulted in a dangerous driving conviction & has been banned from driving for 6 months. Not nearly long enough but at least he's off the roads for a while.

+1 to that.

I also think it takes great courage to criticise a family member's driving ability. Oh and Alfas are cool, though as I always say - I know nothing about cars, just what I like the look of. ;)

downfader, thanks but it's not that hard to do when every member of your immediate family has been taking to A&E when in the care of one persons driving. Thankfully no one has suffered from injuries worse than minor cuts & bruises but we all dread being driven by him.

Will that require a re-test before he gets his licence back as well?
