I remember the sad day when i opened a packet of Hula Hoops and realised that i couldn't fit them on the ends of my fingers any more .............

Ha! I still can, I have dainty fingers.

Excellent OP, nice to think of the kids coming to ask how it was done somehow, we tend to assume kids think they know it all these days.

Smarties don't taste the same now that they have taken all the artificial flavourings and colourings out of them!

I thought that only the orange ones had flavouring in them.

I stopped buying them when they put blue ones in. It just wasn't right.

Fumbles in drawers to find never used playing cards

ooh matron

i can remember, in addition to many of the above suggestions, putting drinking straw bits on the spokes.

The playing cards worked well, more so when you came to a stop and gave the growler a good twist.

You must have had a Growler!!

Was wee Joe24 one of the kids? I think he likes to put cards in his wheels...

No, i moved on from playing cards.
I put the tops of Pringles in between my spokes now. Much cooler:becool:

The other day, some kids in the road were riding round with plastic bottles shoved in the back forks to make a bit of noise as they were riding.

I pointed out that we used to attach a playing card to the back forks with a peg & let it run against the spokes to get a great sound when I was their age (many many moons ago !!).

10 mins later, there was a knock at the door & 5 kids all stood there with pegs & cards asking how they should put it on.

Of course, I obliged & they were all razzing round the streets having a whale of a time.

Nice to know that I can still give the youngsters some good advice.
Whilst they were paying attention did you tell them about condoms and why they should be studying hard?
