i want/need a new bike

i have been using a carrera mtb and a vintage (1980`s) Falcon road bike over the past wee while, I enjoy both, but i think the time has come for me to buy a good bike that i can use to do long runs like 30 - 50 - 60 miles and hopefully by next year 100 miles. planning to do from aberfoyle round loch katrine and over the pass via stronachlachar and stuff like that in near future . what would be a good bike for that kinda stuff. thanks in advance,

You need to let us k ow your budget. i would suggest either a specialized secteur or. ir roubaix. And check out cannondales synapse too.

What are the surfaces like? Perhaps a CX if rougher...do you need to be able to fit mudguards for example

my budget will be around 400-500 pounds approx and the surfaces will be mostly tarmac or good cycle paths and would like mudguards lights etc

once your exsisting bikes are prepared well enough what is stopping them from being used instead of buying another bike .

Last year's model Giant Defy 4/5 or similar. I bought a 2011 Defy 2 in Feb 2012 for £550. I can fit mudguards.
