With all the Ice, Snow and even Slush threads I thought this warranted its own thread

Its become lethal out there. Compacted, polished ice had started to thaw. Now its started raining, and melting the surface of the snow and ice. Thats all going to re-freeze overnight.

Makes me cringe because you have no warning it is going to happen and you know it's going to hurt !
Hope you are Ok and not too much damage to you and the bike

I know that feeling! I nearly came off this morning, I had to walk down an iced up hill. Clipless pedals just add to the uncertainty....

On the subject of spikey tyres, where the best place to get those Nokian studded tyres in the UK?

According to the man at dotbike.com, Nokian are no longer available in the UK. Marathon Winters appear to be all that you can get.

Some of the roads I rode Tuesday were like that, glad your OK, while I was out, near Hockley Heath, I had the bonus of seeing the biggest hare I have seen for a long time. As skudupnorth said no warning, straight down, that's how it happens sometimes, so far I have managed to stay rubber side down.
