As Easy As Riding A Bike

Perfect conditions for my ride home this evening.

Light dusting of snow at lunchtime > Snow stops > Temperature above freezing > Snow melts > Temperature immediately dips below freezing > All the snowmelt turns to ice > Road network turns into a giant ice rink.

Had a pedestrian - also struggling to stay upright - tell me I was doing well! That cheered me up.

I haven't cycled through this weather due to a temporary move at work. I saw a guy cycling through the thick of it today and I shouted "You're brave" he stopped and said to me that he has survived cancer in his life so a little snow wont hurt. I said good luck and off he went.

I don't fancy it on my 23c wheels but my work MTB would be fun.

Shiny ice on the roads and cut through's nearly all the way home yesterday.
At one point I nearly fell off by putting my foot down while still rolling, only to find the extra pressure from the side pushed the wheels out a few inches from under me

until I realised what I was standing on.

Very glad that it is the weekend and I can stay indoors.

Was very icey yesterday morning, my tyres seemed to cut through the ice without losing grip. They are only 26x1.75 semi slicks too. Might be because they have kevlar inside, I dunno.
