Never mind wasps killing 40 people in China.........

You should be more worried about the cars on EVERY street in the UK....as drivers kill themselves and others at a rate of around 2000 per year.

But it's ok, those are just 'accidents'...

Human nature I guess. Fighting disease like cancer, especially with Science, is glamorous, and we can leave it to experts and then reap rewards. Fighting road death requires us all to make the effort to behave well.

Improving road safety would be simple.
Ban ABS brakes, crumple zones and seatbelts.
Replace the drivers airbag with a big metal spike.
We don't want drivers to feel safe and invulnerable, we want them in something made of egg boxes and balsa wood. Something that says very clearly 'Drive like an arse and YOU WILL DIE!'

Well if you want to go down this line of thinking ...

Have you heard of people in the UK dying of breast cancer? Have you heard of people in the UK dying of HIV/AIDS? Have you heard of people in the UK dying in road traffic accidents? Do you think that enough is being done about those problems? Well, more people die in the UK every year of a relatively unpublicised, largely preventable, and largely treatable condition, than of those three combined! You know where I am going with this, don't you ...

Ok, now be honest ... Before I set about my campaign to promote awareness on the forum of Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism, how many forum members really knew much about these problems?

Somebody dies of DVT/PE every 6 minutes in the USA. 10 an hour. 240 a day. A 9/11 worth of fatalities every 2 weeks. Some nutters destroy several large buildings, and the US government spends trillions of dollars trying to stop it happening again. Obama tries to get agreement on affordable health care, and he is accused of being a communist! It costs less than a dollar a day to treat DVT/PE with Warfarin ...

I don't understand people's priorities!

They tried that in Russia with Ladas. Nothing happens but the drivers are killed with their bodies chucked or destroyed by the car. It still happens at a silly rate. Bad drivers are like a mythical creature. Cut off one head 2 more appear. Ladas are made from paper mache, im sure of it.

Not all bad news:

"The total number of fatalities in 2012 was 38 per cent lower than the 2005-09 average.
"The number of people killed or seriously injured was down by 17 per cent and the total number of casualties across all severities was down by 20 per cent."

Cars and truck are very dangerose. But my food cannot come to my shop ina bicycle. I am afraid when I ride my bicycle in England. I am afraid because of cars. Maybe also trucks. But these comments are not realistic about no ABS, no belts. When I am afraid, I ride on a sidewalk. it is safer for me but people sghout. I am happy. Shouts are not dangerose.

Funny that, every time I see you going on about it I stop reading so actually know very little as it bores me.
And I am getting REALLY bored of you writing that, but life is like that isn't it - there is always another nobber with Scottish blood (potentially clotting) in his veins, (literally?) dying to repeat himself, eh!

I'm way more concerned with the hundreds of thousands of people who die round the world unnecessarily of a horrible preventable condition, than whether I have managed to entertain you today.

My posts are very recognisable - there is (currently) a twat with sunglasses to the left of each one, so you don't need to bother reading any of them, spot the twat, move on. Next!

Follow your own advice, ignore me. You may never tire of banging on about DVT, I'll never tire of being bored by it.

Anyway what happened about your previous campaign about the dangers of carbon monoxide, is it not important anymore?
