I'm alone and in pain, sympathy please

I don't know what I've done but when I took the dog out this morning I felt a twinge in my back and then it kind of seized. So I limped along, hoping I could walk it off but I was glad to get to a bench. Tried doing some stretching but it was deffo feeling worse. So I walked back, a bit of a trial and found some anti-inflammatories but it's got steadily worse through the day.

I now can't move without yelping in pain, can't put any weight on my right side and am moving around with the aid of one of those foldup chairs to lean on. Everyone is away and I'm just wondering how I'm going to get up the stairs to bed and whether I'll be able to move tomorrow.

It just took me 10 mins to get up and let the dog out. It's years since I've suffered serious back pain and normally I can free it off but this is excrutiating. Just came on, yesterday I was running and the day before riding with no twinges  I'm sure it's just muscular but holy cow!

Oh no!

Is it down one side? It sounds similar to something I did, according to the doctor, I sort of popped one set the muscles between the ribs out, when they should have been in - absolute chuffing agony, but sorted very easily by prescription anti-inflammatories. Do go and see your doctor (I'm sure you will) hopefully the cure will be as easy for you!

I feel your pain. few years back i bent down to flick a feather off my shoe and the back went sharp shocking pain down my right side, muscle spasm and trapped a nerve. Now have constant pain in my back so i know how you feel, get someone to get you some co codamol from the pharmacy (no prescription needed) and some diclofenac from the docs tomorrow. Get it checked out ASAP by a physio or osteopath and they may be able to free it up or relax the muscle.

Like monkey John says - get med. help !

I did my collar bone once and they gave me tablets that made me see stars and there was no pain......

All the best and get back to us on what the Dr. says...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds painful!

Is there anywhere you can hang from, using your arms to take your weight and so 'stretch' your back, possibly relieving the nerve trapped between the discs (if that indeed is the problem)?

Otherwise can you lie on a Swiss ball or something similar to let your back relax and the nerve to work free!

Keep your back warm and good luck!

Sometimes tiny problems cause all manner of hell when it comes to the back,it could well be nothing but acute muscular spasms, the back's way of protecting itself. I hope it eases off overnight, very often does. An Osteopath visit might be in order if it persists, doctor's aren't much help with these things i've found.

Diazepam, 1 of, and a very very hot bath or shower to relax the muscle.

Absolutely. Had acute muscle spasm some years ago and it was absolutely crippling. Diazepan was the only thing that eased the suffering. Feel your pain Crackle, hope it leaves you soon.

I literally cannot move. I'm just awaiting an e-mail from a medical source to tell me what anti-inflammatories to take. We have a fairly decent selection, once I know the quantity and how often, I'm sure it will start to free things up. I think the stretching and stuff I'll need to do later Dayvo, when I've got some movement back. Ill' tell you what though, it may get me out of stripping the wallpaper in the front room, every cloud and all that.
