Greg has handed in his resignation. As of this week he is no longer a CTC councillor for London.
I'm not going to go through the sorry mess - there'll be plenty of opportunity for that elsewhere. All I will say is this - I persuaded him to run for the job, and he's never reproached me for getting him mixed up in it. Every meeting I've had with him (in furtherance of conspiracies, naturally) has been illuminated by his cheerfulness and his can-do attitude. I can sense the relief in his voice now that he's packed it in, but I never heard him complain about the workload or the double-dealing in any personal sense - he was disappointed and outraged on behalf of the members, not on his own behalf.
He's been patient, restrained, good-humoured and generous - as he is in 'real life'. He'll now have a lot more time to spend with Mr. User, and, it's to be hoped, a lot more time cycling. If ever he ventures back to the Great Wen for a Sunday morning ride or the FNRttC, he'll get a prince's welcome.
All hail, Sir Greg!
