what do you guys recomend for kenda 700x26 tyres. (yh i know the tyres are rubbish but i cant afford new ones just yt.

i dont want to spend too much probs only 15 quid.

ideally i want just a pack of 5 because the tyres wont be staying long hopefully.

so recomend me a pack of five tubes for a 26c tyre for about 15 quid.

thanks people!!

I use Schwalbe SV15, which are 18 -28mm.

£3 ea from Spa Cycles (and other places doubtless)

Possibly not the lightest but hold air well, no problems with the valves etc.

Why do you need 5 tubes? Why not just get a couple and repair the ones you already have?

I'll have your old tubes! Twice I've managed to repair inner tubes found on a ride that others had thrown away because they coulden't be bothered to repair what turned out to be tiny holes.

Off the top of my head I don't think I have ever thrown away tubes, unless they were really old. I must be a skinflint. I've also never had a valve go although I have seen that others have had loads of problems.

It is pretty easy to patch a tyre when you are at home, albeit more fiddly on the road. Anyway, I only mentioned it as patching would free up money to buy more expensive inner tubes if you wanted.

From your original post I guess you are moving to 23mm tyres and don't want to buy inner tubes that can only be used for 26mm? As I said the Schwalbe ones cover the full range. To be honest, and given the variability in tryes widths anyway, I dare say 23mm inner tubes would be fine even if they didn't say so on the packet.

I've used Schwalbe, Specialized, Conti and Michelin, and would be happy to recommend those. Never had problems using them with the Kendas (other than getting holes in them too often).

I've used Schwalbe, Spesh, Contis and some other makes I cant recall but I've never used Michelin. Out of the ones I've used there no real difference between them but a couple of spesh tubes failed near the base of the valve and I not used them since.

Michelin airstop I quite like because the valve stem isn't threaded (I don't use the locknuts on my tubes, so the threads just catch gunk without really servng any purpose).

Likewise. Never thrown any away that have holed (the only one that went in the bucket was the one where the valve ripped off the tube). I have the ones in the wheels and two spares in the saddlebag, and just use them in rotation. (Never had a leaky patch except for one of those self-adhesive 'Skab' ones; I now use proper patches from a proper puncture repair kit and that does the job nicely).

I've used a variety of tubes - Halfords, Specialised, Schwalbe and Michelin between the MTB and the road bike, and the the valve ripped off the Halfords tube so perhaps it'd be safer to avoid them !!
