Innovative/wacky bicycle designs you've seen?

I was trolling around the internet this evening and came across this on youtube: http://www.youtube.c...player_embedded

It's some kind of.. I don't even know how to describe it accruately! It's belt-driven, and has no spokes. The guy says that he chose to put a smaller wheel on the front because of the increased maneuvrability it affords.

This was very interesting to me! I'm curious, now. Have any of you ever come across any other crazy/innovative bicycle design, whether in person or online? I'd love to hear about it.

Yes pretty strange.
I keep seeing people balancing on frames with two triangles and only two wheels. Looks pretty uncomfortable but what do I know? I ride recumbent trikes.

Um...

Why drive via a belt at all? The position of the bottom bracket means it could drive directly onto the wheel. A Schlumpf drive would give two gears.

I'm seen my fair share of 'oddities', so stuff most people would regard as odd is relatively normal to me....

(also a recumbent trike rider...)

Technically not a bicycle, but a recumbent trike with a carbon fibre shell

Would probably be a total sod going up hills, but going down the other side it would be something else. On the flat you could probably keep pace with cars and the best bit, if it is chucking it down, you won't get wet

Until you see footage of recumbents from the 1930's...

There is nothing truly new in cycling, with perhaps the exception of materials like carbon fibre - the rest is just a never ending quest to make things lighter etc.

How about this one.

Made in about 1978 or 79, I can't quite remember.
3 speed hub gear with a Chopper shifter.
Central battery for all the lights.
Dash board, screen, brake lights, drop bars.
The Street Machine logo on the bikini fairing dates it (I believe there is now a recumbent by the same name?).

I was only about 12 or 13 when I started making these, there were seven in all by the time I was 14.
