The nice man on the SRAM stand at the European Hand Built Bicycle Expo wouldn't tell me anything about the top secret X.X cross country groupset being launched in the summer in time for the 2010 model year but here are the rumours;

2 X 10 gearing (X.X, get it?) racers have been running double ring set-ups for years but only Middleburn has produced a MTB double to date.

Technology originally featured on SRAM Red such as double tap shifters (which already exist in the catalogue!), Ti cage front mech, CNC machined cassette, ceramic jockey wheels and carbon cranks.

Expect to see closer integration of SRAMs different brands; Rockshox, Truvative and Avid. Juicy disc calipers integrated into SID forks for example.

SRAMs recent aquisition of Zipp (carbon wheels) opens up the possibility of a new carbon rimmed/ tubeless wheelset.

Recent developments in the surface treatment industry might see the use of
ceramic coated aluminium rotors. Lighter than steel, further weight savings could be made by shrinking the diameter as the new ceramic surfaces provide better braking than tradish stainless.
