Interesting morning

I start off all excited. It supposed to be dry, but cold today in Glasgow, so I thought I'd get my first run on my new bike. So I get out and start trying to swap over my lights.....it's a no go! My Busch and Muller front light and bracket just won't fit the handlebars!:sad:. So I'll have to solve that problem, or wait until I don't need lights before I can commute.

Anyway, back on my lead plated hybrid I set off. I pass a car stopped at the side of the road (engine running). Just after I pass I hear, SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH, SCHREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH. The car is now moving, but very slowly and very noisily (the neighbourhood will be awake!). Obviously it's been a wee bit cold overnight and one of the cars back wheels isn't budging! The brake block must have frozen! Relatively new car as well (56 plate).

Finaly approaching work at the junction where I was reversed in to I came across the aftermath of a nasty fender bender crash. There were others there so I didn't stop and everone looked ok, if a bit shocked.

Interesting morning.

Now can I get a different bracket for my B&M light....

I have the same problem, handlebars too wide.Interesting morning commute here.Somebody parked their BMW in a shop window in Leyton.
Oh how I larfed.

Yesterday's CC ride in Essex we saw a sports car that had 'somehow' beached it's self into a poughed field... car's driver and driver of big pick up truck trying to work out how to pull it out.

I was once away from home on a course when an elderly lady (with suspected poor eyesight), looking for a parking space in the dark mistook the footpath at the end of the carpark for road, drove down it, round the very sharp bend and beached the car in the boggy lawn. They had to get a tractor in to extract it.

I guess the driver here couldn't see clearly in the snow and mistook the turning for a road junction or driveway. If so, the question should be, what the hell was he doing continuing driving if he couldn't tell he was about to drive onto a field.

Tom, YES! It seems that some new bikes are coming with larger diameter handlebars. Busch & Müller has a larger bracket to fit the newer bars. You won't have to do any fancy modifications. Part number 492HOPB.

Space is an issue with my drop bars (there only 40cm) but diameter wise its actually easier to fit thing as its regular, the diameter varies on my commuting hybrid.
I don't think I've seen any beached cars for a while. The best one I saw was on/ off the motorway near Airth. There was an army jeep sitting upside down a good 100ft from the road at least but there was no obvious damage to verge/ fence.

Aye, I spotted that. I will be ordering as soon as I get home tonight. New bikes just seem to cost you money!:sad:

The shop it collided with was actuall a shop selling mattresses,is the driver trying to tell us something.

Should I have taken a pic?
There were a few people milling about so I felt a bit guilty.Late start this morning I left at 615am so I saw the incident at approx 620am.

Stratford seems to be a bit dicey as there seems to be a bit of nightclubbing and selling of chestnuts or whatever they are nearby.Loads of double parked cars but I never say anyhting as I don't want to be hunted by a lynch mob.Couple of cop cars passed me to turn in there this morning and then a few dodgy characters seemed to make a quick getaway.

Completely off topic but it reminds me of the time I was forced off the road by a lorry in to the back of a van on a busy High Street. By the time the police and ambulance arrived the place was completely deserted. It must have looked as if I'd dropped from the sky.
