I am a biker but have never been, as I'm not a big fan of crowded popular events such as the TT..
I know a lot of bikers who have been though, and all seem to love it!

Join St John Ambulance and volunteer for duty at the races. That's what I did in my home patch of NI when I was younger - always had the best spots on every circuit and the only cost was the occasional use of a handy set of skills that I wanted to make available to the public anyway.

I went once way back in the 90's, I will definately return at some point as it was without doubt the best event I've ever been to.

It's also a beautiful place and would be worth a visit even without the racing.

Went there last year just after the TT. Stayed in a cottage right on the course - Handley's corner. More expensive during TT than height of summer. However its like a bikers' Mecca.

As a kid used to get despatched to IOM for whole of summers and some half terms in the 70s to stay with my grandparents. Used to always watch the TT, even the early morning practices. One year me and my brother went round with one of the Marshals and got to wave various flags.

Would then get home and ride my bike pretending to be on the TT bikes, going round corners with knee touching the ground.

I used to go every year , if you are going to go book your ferry early as most people book with the Steam Packet for the following year whilst they are there.

Im same as a few others..bikes have been my life but i hate crowds..so never went. It makes me cringe now..too many great riders lost to the Island..but its their choice..
you will need to book early User76 if you want a hotel or guest house..
camping is ok..
