Its also very disapointing when something doesn't take, I had a major disaster with Penstemons recently, lost most of the plug plants I brought, Last year I had a go at growing perennial Sunflowers from seed, disappointing at first but after a couple of attempts I got some to take and got them in the garden, it was lovely to see them in flower during the Autumn and even better to see them growing back after the winter.
Oh yes, when something a bit experimental comes back the next year it's such a coup.

I love gardening, even if I'm not brilliant at it (but better than @Crackle :giggle:), and my pond I put in last year is starting to be more successful, though no plants colonised it naturally as the books suggested would happen! However some frogs have taken up residence and we had a clutch of waterboatmen who eat all the mozzie larvae and are my new best friend. I still need to do some more work to hide the plastic but I can see one of the frogs in his normal hiding place beside the irises. View attachment 49537
That is LOVELY summerdays. Frog heaven! Love the stones round the edge too.

The stones are from around the garden, there are still two big conifers on either side to come out, probably next year. But need something with a bit of height to replace the ones to the left on the boundary.

My father was a keen keen greenhouse gardner and he smoked everything that he grew apart from the stuff that I nicked and shared with my friends.

Well, write it down boy ......
I love watching things I've planted grow and seeing how the garden has developed over the years. I like growing things for the sake of it, on my allotment I grow things and don't mind if the birds take some of the fruit.
On my hols in Tenerife earlier this year I found some trees with seeds on and brought some home and planted them. One is an Indian bean tree and I don't even know what the other is (every cannabis growers defence). Both have sprouted and will be tenderly nurtured.
I can't bear to give up on a plant or throw things away such as strawberry runners so I end up with a huge number of pots, cuttings etc.
Yep, I love gardening.

I've got an Indian Bean Tree in my garden - really beautiful with very fragrant blossom which comes late in the year - mine's not quite out yet here in the south-east.

I can't bear to throw away or dig up a plant even if I don't like it. I've had to get a bit better at this but luckily I know a local charity which has a plant nursery run for mentally-handicapped adults and which will take all the strawberry runners I can give them!

@summerdays Dave has seen my lawn pics. I think he advised me to start again
Mine you can see the bit I did reseed, it looks greener than the rest, but still a bit sparse!

But fewer daisies in that bit!

Do you think he would come and fix up both our lawns?;)
