According to the Bridge Union it is, also recognised by the IOC. In which case this opens the door for a host of others, chess for instance, then the Monopoly and Scrabble players will demand equal status.
From a personal point of view I think the world has gone properly bonkers. I don't think the "game" of golf is a sport yet it makes a debut in the next Olympics. Maybe we as a society have given up on getting people fit and healthy and to make them feel better about themselves they can now compete at "sports" where being overweight, smoking and drinking are not a bar to participation.

@User14044, @Hill Wimp and I are campaigning for pub pie eating to be recognised as an Olympic sport. Our first full training session is next month when all three of us will be able to attend.

All bars are open to participation, they just have to stock suitable pies.
