I did Monday and Tuesday of last week which scared me due to the ice, left it Wednesday and Thursday, Friday I worked from home and yesterday I had to pick the kids presents up which required the car, was going to go out at the weekend but was pressed for time.

The last week I have been starting to feel crap and listless, few miles on the bike and felt right as rain, is it some kind of physical need once you are cycling regularly or just the exercise ?

Lovely ride in, a balmy 3c, strange how I now consider that a warm day now.

Its official, cycling makes you weird !

The weather* doesnt bother me one iota, neither the dark, its the cars and trucks that spoil it !

*Sheet ice excluded.

Not sure of the exact definition of addiction, but to me it means something where you feel rubbish if you don't do / get it and which takes up loads of your time / money and which you are constantly thinking about.

Given all the above, I'd say yes, it is addictive. ;)

A year ago, I never would have believed that I'd cheerfully set off into p***ing down rain in the dark and be enjoying it.

Second that.

I feel in a bad mood nowadays if I haven't been out on the bike.

I thought cycling was addictive until I added swimming and running to create triathlon. I love it and it makes me feel very much happier, and grim if I don't do it....

Absolutely - that and the poor weekend rail service .
I think I stay warmer and dryer cycling than if I hung about waiting for buses and trains. The cold on my face is also preparing me for skiing in the new year.

I don't find it addictive, Snow, Ice, torential rain, work etc stops me cycling, other than that I'd love to be out every day on my bike.

Or there again maybe it is.
