I cannot be cool as my kids refuse to do it. They will now not be seen dead on a bike since becoming teenagers even if it means a 30 minute walk instead of a five minute cycle ride or waiting for a bus.

In the real world the only role models for cycing are oddball politicians, old men in lycra and hippie gardener Alys Fowler.

1 in every 3 bikes sold in the UK is an Apollo

My son thinks my touring bike is seriously un-cool but my Cannondale MTB is very cool

That can't be right. Can it?

............and dope fueled trwglets in lycra!

Cycling as a sport I guess is quite cool; but when one looks at the "lifestyle" cycling, communting, touring etc I guess to many that is not seen as cool; but a bit weird......

Take them to watch a World Cup downhill MtB event, Steve Pete will blow their minds. Or stick on a freestyle MtB video, or show them Crankworks in Whistler, then ask them who's cool. If their only view of cycling is old codger tootling about on rusty hybrids that awful!

It's swimming against the tide that sometimes makes cycling all the more appealing.

Cool no thanks.

Yes, I think it is cool. To me, anything that is a bit wierd and not mainstream is cool.

I have long been highly suspicious of most things that are hugely popular, so I'll cycle, but only if it's cool in a non cool way!

then going cycle camping for two weeks in Britain instead of sitting on a hot beach in Spain is the height of wierdness to many.

Tell them you are going to the Shetlands and they will look at you as though you have grown 2 heads. The loosers!!

Just losers who can't afford a car.
Most of us are loosers, yes. Loosers of weight that is! (I'm not though). Seriously though, I'm often GLAD I don't drive as the cost alone must be bloody ridiculous, making THEM the REAL loosers!

My children claim I am the most un-cool person on the planet (and I have to agree with them) and I like cycling so it cannot possibly be 'cool.'

Ahem! they obviously have never met ME then!!
