Jeeeeezzzz... Came out of work at 2.30pm and the traffic. Bananas. Cars, vans, lorries and buses bumper to bumper. I noticed some were so impatient with it that they turned right down a bus/taxi/cycle lane. I got all the way over the other side of the River Itchen before it cleared. Oh the benefit of two wheels, I wasnt the only one to take that advantage as a few motorbikers were out.

Annoyingly though I've had to make quick road-side repair to the bike in the city centre. My toe-clip somehow has become bent right out of shape, then the cable ties on the front mudguard failed so I had to get off and fix that. I've given up on the toe-clips. They've only been on for a couple of months but are bent, scuffed and the leather part has been damaged beyond repair.

Gaz, I think if I did go SPD or clipless then even they might get damaged. I am tempted by 105 pedals on the new bike though I know nothing about the shoes. Shame no one does an overshoe for walking in the things.

IMO Shimano SPD 520 pedals and shoes to fit. You can walk in the shoes which you cannot in the SPD-SL's

Why walk when you can cycle

and you *can* walk in SPD-SLs... just not as well.
