Is it just me or......

are drivers passing more closely than ever over the last couple of weeks.

I've had more close passes this last week than I had through the whole of last year. As a result I've shifted my road position to be more central. Yes, I might "p" a few drivers off but it usually makes them give me more room when passing and ultimately I'm rather selfishly thinking about saving my own ass!!

Has anyone else noticed this?

Well, it's not me. I've had some of the best days in the last week. Drivers giving way, waiting behind etc.

All seems normal on my London commute. Very little problems to report. But then again London motor traffic seem to be very ware of cycle traffic these days.

I've seen nothing beyond the twin daily hazards of ASL abuse and wandering pedestrians. Neither of which cause me any great irritation.

Last 10 rides or so I've hardly had any issues. Just purely depends on the drivers you find out and about!

Maybe you'd subconsiously moved your riding position closer to the kerb?

That may be the case - usually try and ride in the nearside car wheel tracks. (i.e. right in a headlight) Will see how it goes. Maybe I've just been unlucky with the number of idiots I've met on the road recently!

The Lord cant give everyone excellent road sense.
We should try and be patient with those less fortunate them ourselves, as in all likelyhood they will come unstuck sooner or later.

As long as neither me, or any other road user, is involved they can go for it!!
