My point is why are you comparing a branded groupset from a company with extra costs like marketing etc to an unbranded companies offerings?

Sora is £500 to £700 bike territory. Upto about £900 Tiagra £1000 105.
I was quite suprised to see from another thread that the Spesh Allez only came with 2300 for £550. You get that on a Triban3 for £299.

Such frames are the frames that the likes of Planet X and Ribble (and many others) rebrand and sell on. Cut out the middle man and you save. Don't see a problem with that personally.

It's also not quite as clear cut as that, the mould may be the same bit the carbon that's laid in it could be different. A company like Planet X would have to be able to stand behind their product and guarantee its quality; a back door Chinese seller might not be that way inclined, might use a lower grade fibre or just use much less for more savings. I have no qualms buying from a Chinese workshop, I just need to have some sort of guarantee to trust it.

I've thought that Specialized were overpriced for a while now. This confirms it - they're bandits imho! As bad as the likes of Pinarello, it seems...

I like the design of Specialized bikes but feel they are overpriced if I was shelling out £1200 on a roubaix id expect 105 at least

Specialized offer a lifetime warranty on their frames which I find reassuring, while PlanetX offer a two year warranty on frames, which I find shocking. This is well below the life expectancy of a bike, why do they not have greater faith in the products which has their name compared to other companies in the market?

You pay your money you take you choice... It is wise though to look a little deeper than book prices IMHO so you know exactly what your getting.
