Tell him he's having 2 birthdays this year.Of course next year you'll have to go one better and give him 3 birthdays. It's better than lying n'est pas.

No, that's not how the progression works. If it's twice as many as the year before it will be 4 next year. In 8 years time he'll be having roughly one and a half birthdays per day.

He doesn't really get the whole birthday thing...although no formal diagnosis yet, we're pretty sure he's on the autistic spectrum and his vocabulary and comprehension is quite limited. Saying that though, he is having a lovely day :-)

Try not to assume a spectrum disorder, there are quite a few other things which could be tested for first.

True...I've worked with children with a number of different needs though and am pretty certain (but you never know and to be honest the label doesn't matter...as long as he's happy and we're doing the best for him, that's all I really care about)
