Socks absorb sweat and keep feet warm inside waterproof shoes... they do neither if sandals are worn, so no point.
Shoes worn without socks will [eventually] become ingrained with sweat and then the bacteria will move in... yuk.

If you have toe nails like mine you would wear socks with sandals .Short sports socks of course.

Seems as if the fashion world is playing catch-up with AUK.

I wear what I feel most comfortable in & sometimes that includes Shimano spd sandals with socks.But only when cycling
