Hello all,
I recently posted a hello in the Welcome Mat forum also stating that I'm shopping around for my first 'proper bike' having been riding around a clapped out old Dawes since I was a poor lowly tax dodger!
I've been looking for a more relaxed riding position so this weekend have test rode a Secteur Sport, Defy 2, Synapse, CAAD8 and Trek 1.2. My budget going into his journey is around the £800 mark.
Having tested all the above, I felt happiest on the Secteur. My question comes regarding buying last seasons/years gear. If I go to the Spec Store, I can pay £850 for a Secteur Sport 2013 or £1k for an Elite 2013. However I have just found a new Elite 2012 online for £850.
My question to you seasoned pro's is whether this is a good deal or not? If any Secteur riders can comment on the 2012 vs. 2013 I'm all ears. I have asked in bike shops but I can't help but feel like I'm constantly being ushered to get me purchasing the new model.
Or would I do better to wait until January or even search the 2nd hand market a bit more? Having a new model (i.e. 2013) isn't high on my priorities, I want to make sure I get the most bike I can for my money.
I've crossed the hurdle of deciding which bike is right for me, now just need to decide whether to buy now or wait a little bit.
