I dare say nowadays 2 and a half hours should be enough - electronic payments and so on.
Of course, for the inland revenue you are supposed to keep any paperwork for 6 years.

It centres around two threads on here where, proof of payment was agreed upon but has never been given.

at work we are quite often asked to provide a Proof Of Delivery on parts supplied up to 12 months previously , a lot of the major carriers only keep 6 months worth and any older are normally archived .

I did not think there was a time limit , if the seller cannot show a signed delivery note to the buyer the buyer is under no obligation pay, as the seller cannot prove the buyer has received the goods

Well, would you consider 21/2 years long enough to be able to provide proof of payment?
You really are not making any sense at all, are you saying that you have asked somebody to prove they had paid for something 2 1/2 years ago & you are still waiting for the said proof?
