Beautiful place but I can't help much as it was far too long ago for anything to be of much use now. Only advice I can offer is take a looong time - it's worth it.

Stayed in the bunkhouse at the Old Inn at Carbost a couple of times. It's a belter.
Also stayed in the SYHA hostel at Broadford - beds too short for me.
And the SYHA hostel in Glenbrittle - full of pissed weegie mountaineers.
And the campsite at Glenbrittle - midgie hell.
And the campsite at Portree - which was very nice.
Once rode past the campsite at the Sligachan and was surprised to see it completely deserted but the fences were littered with pieces of flapping tent material. A gale the previous day had completely flattened every tent. It gets a bit draughty up there sometimes.

The campsite just north of Portree is nice (but when I stayed there, there were LOTS of midges), I also stayed in a campsite near Breakish which I also liked - it had a nice shower and not much else, very few people/lots of space. For great views, go visit Old Man of Storr (but you will need to leave your bike somewhere). Kilt Rock is also interesting.

Hi Fran 143, here on Skye we are still waiting for settled summer weather. Its been very mixed and its still very cold, several nasty hail showers today with some blustery wind thrown in for good measure.

Its all good cycling but try and avoid the A87 trunk road if you can, its a narrow road and the Uig Ferry traffic isn't very considerate.

This is a new youth hostel entry not a recommendation as such but convenient to the obvious shops with our friendly cycle shop literally next door.

Feeling sorry for all the bedraggled cyclists on tour thru Skye this week... its been wet and cold. Forecast for June is looking better thankfully. Windy weekend in store but Monday heralds a much needed change, touch wood.
