It's a cliche, I know, but a true one - time flies by as you get older.
It certainly does for me, helped along by Mrs D working only school term times (she's Director of business for a group of academy schools, "works" from home during the school holibobs, although beyond authorising payroll and arranging contractors to get on site(s) to do work theres not a lot for her to do) as I get to countdown the passing of the year in 5/6 or occasionally 7 week half term chunks.
For example, we're a week away from summer half term. Then it's 7 weeks to the summer holidays, and in my experience a mere half term flies by.
Once we're in the summer holidays the month quickly rolls around to August, by the end of which we'll been seeing the first ads or displays for...Christmas!
Autumn half term comes around very quickly, then the final landmarks of the year, Halloween, Bonfire Night, and then Crimbo itself is upon us.
So ladies, gentlemen, and milord Accy, I present to you the contention that mid-May marks the point in the year at which we can truly say, "it's nearly Christmas."
