i called them this morning to point out the error and recieved this in reply.

Hi Gary,

Further to our telephone conversation, please find attached our company bank details so that you are able to pay back the money you have been overpaid.

Again, my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this- it was entirely my mistake.

Well done gary - you did the right thing. You'll never get much more than you did reply-wise as people generally don't like having their mistakes pointed out to them. I trust you didn't just tell payroll who will sweep it all under the carpet, let the people at the top know what an honest and trustworthy employee you are too.
