Just call me Chris...
Back in July I ordered a pair of army surplus trousers for fishing.
5 weeks later, nothing so I emailed the company to be told they're out of stock, would I like a refund or order something else?

I asked for a refund which never happened despite my constant chasing them.

My last email was a complaint and I asked for a formal response within 10 days which was about 3 weeks ago.

So, what can I do? I know it's only twenty quid but it's the principle...
Paid by credit card if it makes a difference.

Contact your credit card company and ask for a refund. They will claw the money back from the trader.

Same here for a under £30 purchase that never turned up. One call to Capital One and my money was returned.

Sorry, Uncle Mort and Vernon, you are both wrong - credit card companies are only liable on purchases over £100. http://www.financial...ditcards-31.htm

Panter, there are things you can do in theory e.g. you could sue the company. In practice, just write it off.

In theory I might be wrong but I managed to get a £32 refund after registering a complaint with First Direct.

I think that it's called good will.

I don't know if it's a question of strict liability. I have successfully got Barclaycard to get me a £40-oddd refund from Virgin.
That's encouraging. I was turned down by Visa on a £75 refund, but that was a few years ago, when banks weren't so hard up for Brownie points.

In that case give it a go Panter.

July?! Blimey, you're patient. As above, contact your cc co. What have you got to lose? While you're at it, seems to me a bit of naming & shaming would be in order.

AM I right in guessing that the surplus company was called Surplus and Adventure? Well known for being shite amazing they are still in business.

As I say, only £20.00, hardly the end of the World but it's the principle of the thing.
I thought that the CC company would only get involved if over £100.00 but I'll give them a call and report back

I thought it may be bad form to name and shame like that on here? if so, mods please remove but this is the dirty cheating lying bunch of crooks company:

Why is it bad form to name and shame? You're doing everyone a favour.
