I wish. Born with it I'm afraid... and I should have put 'deviated' rather than 'displaced'.

I had an op to sort my deviated septum about 20 years ago, fairly horrible for a week after until they removed all the packing (and the subsequent nosebleed stopped). I still get colds but less sinusitis and not constantly bunged on my left side, and less deaf in that ear. Get it sorted if you can. It obviously has no effect on the appearance of the nose

Trying to get any sort of nose job on the NHS is virtually impossible these days (they're classed as Procedures of Limited Clinical Value/Effectiveness by most commissioners). But now I have private health insurance through work...

Ah, I had mine done on NHS as it was quite detrimental to my health and wellbeing. It's not a cosmetic procedure

As long as the private HC covers pre-existing conditions you should be fine (as long as they don't class it as cosmetic in which case it won't be covered)

See an ENT and take it from there

Ah, so if they actually need to do a proper rhinoplasty, you may struggle even with private insurance

Hope you get it sorted. Expect a week off work minimum

Give me all your holidays and i will bequeath to you a magical potion to cure all ills.

(Potion may have the appearance of a half a pack of out of date Honey and Lemon lockets... no liability for cure or accidental poisoning)

I usually get a cold on holiday... it happens so regularly that I expect to catch something as soon as I relax and unwind away from work... most of our holidays don't involve train, ferry or plane trips so it can only be the different viruses encountered in passing while away from home rather than from recycled air-conditioning.

Better than Mrs kes... She's not a doctor at all but all I get when I have the lurch is being told to stop malingering .....

Adults catch ten colds a year on average but shake most of them off. I have defeated colds that started with a sore throat by gargling with Corsodyl, taking zinc tablets and using Vicks First Defence..

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I have a ten year-old and a wife who's a teaching assistant so I get double-hits from the germ factories that are educational establishments.

God knows how bad I would be if I wasn't cycling!
Yup last week my 3 year old was puking and son had a temperature ................
