When I start its REALLY REALLY hard ie i have to take it easy - so now instead of hammering it I take it easy ie 20/25min instead of trying for say 10 or 15mins...

I'm not a morning person but'am doing the riding as its an interesting and better way of getting thru the jams instead of wondering if your gonna meet a jerk on the bus or its gonna be jammed or maybe even late.

Anyone else get this

Just call me Chris...
I've had this for ages.....

I can get 200 yards down the road and my legs feel exhausted, I'm really struggling and feel like I can't go on.
If I back it off for 15 minutes or so (or just push through it) the old legs are Ok again (or as good as mine get anyway :biggrin:)
It just seems to take me a really long time to warm up.

It's a real PITA when I go mountain biking because I drive to where we're riding, get the bike off the car, and then get faced with a stiff climb on cold legs

It certainly wakes you up, that's for sure ! I start off feeling pretty un-energetic but after a mile or so I seem to get my wind (or perhaps I just wake up fully by then !!) and I'm fine thereon in.

I have pretty much crawled out of my bed at 5.30am and dressed / drunk my OJ / got out the door and set off by 6.00 though. It does feel like the middle of the night until summertime and early sunrises perk things up.

Quite often feel knackered in the morning..... just spin for a while till the legs wake up. Didn't work today though - just back at base from visiting another office....took it easy.

Was okay yesterday and today.Set off yesterday at 3.45 am and today at 4.45am.Tomorrow it's back to 3.45am.

You have my sympathy for these early starts, I start at 4am, and a 30 minute cycle is just too much, unless it's summertime! (But, in my defence, I do a physical job too, up to 5 tons of food, manual handled!)

Actually I prefer them to 7,8 or 9am commutes.

I get a lie in Sunday as I don't leave till 6.00am.

Sounds like you work in a food factory.
I have visited many in my time. Which one do you work in?

..."Good guess....Not right!"

I deliver frozen/dry food etc, in Hastings, and to be very truthful it's rarely 5 tons, more like 2.5! , but I drive over 120 miles/day, and start at 4.30am, it's enough for me!

That must keep you fit obviously.

I'd say I'm fairly fit - though often tired!

When I was running marathons, there was no way that I could do a training run early in the morning. My body just would not 'switch' to running mode. However, I have no problems leaving the house at 7:15 on the bike. I reckon with cycling it is much easier to take it easy to get through the morning commute without finding it too hard.
