Jérôme Kerviel ordered to pay 4.9 billion euros in damages

Mr Kerviel sat expressionless as he received the three-year jail term, a two-year suspended sentence, and an order to pay back the 4.9 billion euros he lost the bank.

Presumably he's also lost his job - but when he's out of chokey if he starts paying it back at say 5 euros a week it'll only take him, erm, quickly runs out of fingers and toes - a long time!

Or in this case, even a six figure sum will be beyond him prior to retirement

Even if he became the President of a West African Kleptocracy he would be unable to afford that amount.
